I find that the only thing more exhilarating than watching sports is shooting them.

I had the privilege of being the official photographer for Texas VegFest.  Here’s a sneak-peak of some of the photos.

There was an amazing turn out this past Saturday and I can see why.  All I can say is these people sure know how to throw an event!  From the top-notch speakers, great music, amazing vendors and sponsors to the kids activities, there was something for everyone.  The only downside is having to wait a full year before we can get together and do it again!

-Jack Maguire, Historian

Colton Sceviour of the Texas Stars became the second player in Texas history to record 100 career points with the club.

A client gave me some Stars tickets and I was able to capture this shot at the game.

Cyclocross is here to stay thanks to groups like the Dirt Derby which is put on by The Peddler Bike Shop.  I suggest grabbing your bike and heading out there one Tuesday after work.  What else are you possibly doing on a Tuesday evening?  I should warn you; cyclocross is pretty addictive so get over there before the season is over.

By the way, did you know Austin was chosen to host the 2015 CX Nationals?

Are you ready to Derby?

The Texas Rollergirls are back.  A bunch of bad ass women being awesome, what’s not to love?  Check out their schedule for upcoming bouts.

Jaclyn was a blast to work with.  We were able to capture some really amazing shots during her session making it difficult to choose only one to highlight here.  There were a lot of fun images, but I think this one really captures her beauty and elegance.

If you have any questions on what Austin Vivid Photography can offer you, please contact us.

On location head shots can be a lot of fun.  Megan did an amazing job lighting up in front of the camera.  We achieved this shot in the dreaded 2pm harsh sunlight but moved into open shade while letting the rim of sunlight bounce across her face giving her a natural glow that really shows off how beautiful she is.  This is one of the reasons working with natural light is such a joy.  Don’t get me wrong, studio lights have a great place in portraiture; there is a consistency and science to it that many photographers love.  And often times they come out with a great finished product.  As for my style, I am more drawn to an environment that I, and more importantly, the person being photographed is more comfortable in.  I feel it is a bit awkward becoming relaxed and just being yourself inside a studio with strobes flashing every time that shutter button is released.  When you are relaxed and having a good time great photographs just happen.

Let’s see what kind of fun we can cook up for your photography needs.  Please contact me for prices on your next (or first) session.  Shoots like this can be more affordable than you may have thought.
